Count it all joy.

This is a reminder that things may not get better. In fact, it may get worse. We are not promised better days on earth. We may never, in our lifetime, see better circumstances in our lives, or on earth. We are not called to anticipate for a better phase of life. However, we are called to “count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:2-4)

We may have to find peace with knowing what we have is all we got. And even then, it may not last. We are to be contented with what we have, for everything is given to us by God and we are not entitled to anything. When we accept that fact, and we see each day and every person placed in our lives as a gift, we would be able to see how truly blessed we are, and to fight for joy in the things that truly matter. However it bleak it may seem, we are told to take heart, for He has overcome the world. There will be troubled times, but He will also be with us through it all.

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
